Westport offered Cameron everything he needed for middle school. As a shy kid, he flourished with the attentive nature of his teachers. They were always receptive and responsive to any questions we had and made sure that Cam was pushed to be his best. Not only did they support him through his academic pursuits but they also regularly showed up to his extra-curricular activities. Westport offered high level academic opportunities within an extremely nurturing and caring environment. We appreciate the trusting relationships we built at Westport and believe they helped instill academic confidence that will last throughout Cam’s life.

Just wanted to reach out and let you know what an AMAZING job Westport is doing with the online NTI work!!! The way your staff has executed the learning as been nothing short of amazing. I love love love that they are doing online “live” lessons. (I wish my elementary student's teachers would do that!)
Ms. Blair Ruwe, Parent of 6th & 8th Grade Student
My son attended Westport’s Montessori program and our family couldn’t have been more pleased with his experience. Our satisfaction extended far beyond just the challenging academics – individuality was honored and encouraged, the Montessori teaching style catered to all different learning types, the teachers and administration approached each day with love and kindness, and the relationship between the students was supportive, respectful, and compassionate. I cannot say enough great things about this school and the people who work there. As a parent, I felt welcome and heard at all times by teachers and the administration. It was evident how much everyone cared about each student. Communication and assignments from teachers and the school were consistent, comprehensive, and well organized. When my son, now a junior, talks about his middle school experience, it’s filled with positive memories – inspiring teachers, great friends, fun field trips, great music training, and fantastic preparation for high school.
School is about so much more than academics – it’s about relationship building, personal growth, exploration of new ideas, learning acceptance and open mindedness, having fun… Our son received an A+ education at Westport that included all of these. Ultimately, our son’s three years there helped create a confident student who felt appreciated and respected within his school community, and prepared him well for high school at Manual. Westport will undoubtedly be our first choice for his little brother!

Our oldest son graduated from Westport, my middle daughter is a current eighth-grader, and our youngest will be entering as a sixth-grader in the fall. Our kids have enjoyed their time at Westport and have grown immensely as a result. Attending Westport has increased their self-reliance and prepared them for the future challenges of high school and college. Westport’s NTI efforts through the pandemic have been tremendous and the teachers and administration have navigated the difficult situation with great skill and thoughtful communication with parents. In addition, Westport is home to a top orchestra program including one of the only electric orchestra programs in the country and the opportunities provided there are truly one of a kind. We whole-heartedly recommend Westport as a place where your children can grow.

Westport does not have a strict dress code or uniform policy, instead we have guidelines we expect our students to follow.
Athletics & Activities
Westport is a large middle school who's athletics department rivals most high schools in JCPS. We also have a number of extra-curricular activities and programs that students can engage with during their middle school experience.
Most class sizes average around 27 or fewer students, but a core class will never exceed 31 students and most related arts pathways classes are fewer than 25 students.
Westport is active in social media and would encourage families to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Westport also actively uses SchoolCNXT and School Messenger to communicate directly with families.
No matter a student's needs, we will provide them the opportunities necessary for them to be successful. Whether that is a student with a gifted and talented GSSP, an ESL PSP, advanced program, or a special needs IEP, Westport will work hard to meet each individual student's needs.
High School Options
Westport has historically had students feed into several of the high schools that are geographically close to us, but have also had success having students apply and be accepted into high schools such at Manual, YPAS, and other high school programs across the district.
What is Montessori?
Montessori style instruction is one that is focused on building self-directed, independent learners. Westport Montessori teachers are always growing and improving in their craft and are currently involved with Xavier University's Montessori department for ongoing professional development. To learn more about Montessori, visit the American Montessori Society.
We encourage all families to join and partner with us through our PTA. Joining our PTA is a great opportunity to connect with other families, volunteer, and support our students and staff.
Westport has a number of supports for students based on their needs. We have programs to address wellness, social/emotional needs, academic interventions, behavior coaches, mental health professionals, and many other specialists that your student could interact with.
If your student has applied for the Westport Montessori magnet program, you will receive communications from us as to required elements that will complete your application. Be sure to complete your application to the JCPS options and magnets school choice before completing the linked forms below.
